A Sad Farewell

by Shauna on February 27, 2013

This is hard for me to write. In fact, I’ve put off writing it for a few weeks now. But I think I just have to come out and say it, like pulling off a band-aid quickly.

I’m getting out of the blogging business.

It’s time. I know it’s time.

I used to have so much to say. And really, now, I feel like I’m all talked out. Seriously, there’s only so many times I can share stories about my kids, my vagina, my bad habits, and my food issues. Know what I mean?

Anyway, I’ve loved every second of this crazy journey. I started out blogging as a conduit to the publishing world and ended up with this huge online family. You are my friends now, which was most unexpected. I never considered sharing my life with total strangers would make me such a better person. My life is better with you in it.

While I’m sad I won’t be sharing my stories as often as I have for the last seven years, I’m not saying I won’t ever again. I’m still pursuing my career as a writer, I’m just taking some personal time off. My family needs me right now.

I’ll be around. Oh don’t you worry. The world still needs my pithy, witty Facebook posts, so if we’re not Facebook friends already, FRIEND ME.

I’m not going to say good-bye. I’ll just say See You Later.

I understand having to make decisions based upon the needs of the family. I hope whatever free time you have can lead to more writing for you, possibly just a different medium. We are Facebook friends so I will see you there.

You do what you need to do! But, never forget how many people you affected with this space of yours. I *might* know of a certain blogger who would have never opened her blog or herself up if she hadn’t met you. Thanks for opening the door to this weird world for me. I love you. I’m glad I know you for real or else I’d be crying. xo

I’ll see you on FB, as always. It’s too bad I never really got HERE very much, but I get busy, too – and there’s only so much time in a day. Excuses, really. But – like “Naked Girl in a Dress” made me realize – beneath it all, we are all bare as the day we were born. Which makes us all equal, I guess. Well … most of us. Some of us, after all, are hairier than others.

I wish you every kind of happiness that you deserve and will keep on reading your awesome facebook posts. Just wanted you to know, you were the first blogger I ever read, the reason I started to read Brittany and others and the reason I started blogging myself.
Good luck, Shauna!! And thank you.

You will be missed, Shauna! While I will miss reading your blog, I will so much rather have those laughing -so-much-that-we-cry conversations in person over coffee at Monika’s house or mine….since, OH YEAH, BABY….we are on our way to being neighbors with you in 4 months or so. Very happy for your new beginnings….may you never have writer’s block! Love <3
