i didn’t mention penis or vagina once in this post

we were in florida a little more than 24 hours before we had our first casualty/catastrophe/reason to drink early in the day. ethan’s asthma flaired up early this morning and i realized i brought everything BUT his nebulizer. i rushed him to the emergency room where they administered 3 breathing treatments and a steroid shot. he was quite unhappy about the shot. but the doctors and nurses at that hospital are the best. they gave him toys and a popsicle and all was forgiven. a few hours and 4 prescriptions plus 1 rented nebulizer and he’s back to normal. oh, and he fell out of the fridge last night and hurt his foot. so he’s limping AND wheezing. yep, it’s tuesday all right. needless to say i had a glass of wine with lunch.

after the excitement of the morning, we went over to the bookstore where i’ll be signing tomorrow and saw this:

harley was very excited about my name being on the chalkboard. she kept saying very loudly, “WOW MOMMY, YOUR NAME IS RIGHT HERE–ON THIS CHALKBOARD–SHAUNA GLENN–THAT’S YOU MOMMY!!!!” she waited until she had a small crowd gathered before she stopped yammering. i just stood there and laughed.
i need to remember to put her on the payroll.
i also learned that i’m good at painting faces (a possible backup career?). harley painted ethan’s face for him.

then we went to paint pottery. my 13 year old looked over at one man’s art piece and said, “what does that say on his cup?” i strained my eavesdropping eyes and said, “i think it says JESUS.”

“no way,” she said, not believing me.

so she got up from our table and walked around, to get a better peek. she came back and could hardly contain her laughter. “it DOES say JESUS. why would someone paint JESUS on their mug?”

i thought for a minute and answered, “maybe it’s for his yard man, jesus?”

we almost got kicked out for laughing so hard.

not really. but that would have made a better story right?

i feel like my post is lame, but i have absolutely NO time to myself. in fact right now the e-man is sitting on my lap eating mac and cheese. will try and sneak away later.

Oh no! An ER trip so early in the trip? Okay, at least you can be thankful A) he lived, B) they have good popsicles, just like at Cook Childrens and C) he did it today, and not on Thanksgiving!

Get better E-man! Hope the rest of your trip is fun and maybe even relaxing!

Good luck with tomorrow’s book signing- that place looks like a cool little shop!

I can’t believe you’ve already been to the emergency room.

Oh well, I guess the more kids you have, the higher the probability.

Try and have fun…

Asthma is the worst! And it happens so fast.

Glad he’s better.

congrats on the book signing! Yeah, there’s nothing like free publicity is there? :)

I know nothing about your sons situation but I strongly suggest getting him running as soon as possible. I had “ashma” when I wa s a kid and in 9th grade joined the cross country team because our football team sucked and it is what my friends did. After a single quarter I was good. No more breathing problems of any kind.

I knew another kid who turned out to be a far better runner then I who had a similar thing happen. Building aerobic capacity can cure that stuff.
