wow. i had some great entries in the ‘most embarrassing kid moment’ contest. i was relieved to find out that i’m not the only one who, on a regular basis, is horrified in public.
it was hard to decide, but here are my top two.
the runner up is Teri. here is her story…
This was a really long time ago and three kids ago…back when I only had one and I was a single mom. I dated the same guy for a REALLY long time and he was sort of a fixture around our house.
J. and I were taking a shower (ahem) and when we got out, Alex came in and told me, “You had a phone call, but I told them that you couldn’t come to the phone because you were in the shower with J.”
Thank God it wasn’t my mother (it was a girlfriend of mine who really got a kick out of that).
and here’s the winning story from Donna!…
Dominic is 4, and he knows we do NOT eat at McDonald’s. We were out running errands one day when he announced that he needed to go potty RIGHT NOW. So we pulled into the closest place with a clean restroom – a McDonald’s as it turns out. As we walk in the door, Dominic announces to the entire restaurant, in his loudest announcing voice, “DON’T WORRY EVERYBODY! WE’RE NOT GOING TO EAT ANYTHING! WE’RE JUST HERE TO MAKE A POOP!”
congratulations donna! i laughed so hard when i read this story that i might have even wet myself.
hmm. i wonder which prize donna will choose–the luxury* of keeping my 4 wonderful* kids for a week; or a boring ol’ target gift card.
*luxury– make-you-want-to-slit-your-wrists, fiery pit of hell
*wonderful– only when sleeping or heavily medicated on downers (not that i’ve actually given them downers–ok, that’s not entirely true–is benadryl a downer?)

Donna…May I ask why you do not eat at McDonalds?
I know I swore it off after watching “Super Size Me”…..but unfortunately that only lasted until our next road trip and it was between 7-11 burritos and McMystery Nuggets. And then they discovered “Happy Meal” toys and all was lost. DOH….
P.S. Congratulations, Donna! I bet you have healthy kids AND a Target gift card….
